Mohamed Lamloum Ratib is the Senior Legal Consultant and Head of Litigation at Al Kabban & Associates, with more than 20 years of legal experience and an extensive background in contentious matters before the UAE courts.

Since joining Al Kabban & Associates in 2006, Mohamed has played a central role in the development of the firm’s litigation practice. He leads the litigation department and is closely involved in the strategy, preparation and management of complex disputes across a broad range of practice areas, including civil, commercial, banking, criminal, employment, real estate and personal status law.

As Head of Litigation, he is responsible for coordinating case strategy across the department and supervising the preparation and progression of matters handled by the firm’s litigation team. Under Mohamed’s leadership, the firm’s litigation team has acted in a number of significant and complex UAE court proceedings. Selected recent experience includes:

• Dubai Court of Cassation Banking Dispute – AED 3.48 Million Award (2026): Acted for customers in proceedings concerning the binding effect of instructions issued by the Central Bank of the UAE to licensed financial institutions. The Court confirmed that Central Bank instructions issued within its statutory competence constitute mandatory rules and upheld an award of AED 3,483,847.31 representing the return due on frozen customer funds.
• Commercial Recovery Exceeding AED 520,000 (2026): Acted for a corporate claimant in proceedings concerning funds advanced for the importation of three luxury vehicles into the UAE. The matter involved shipping and customs documentation, payment records, expert financial evidence and procedural issues concerning documentary proof. The Court awarded the amount claimed together with legal interest, court fees and costs.
• Sanctions-Related Bank Account Freeze (2026): Acted in Dubai Court of Cassation proceedings concerning restrictions imposed on a bank account based on suspected associations with a sanctioned entity, despite the account holder not being listed on a sanctions register. The Court ordered the lifting of the freeze and release of the funds, finding insufficient evidence to support the measures imposed.
• AED 150 Million Estate Dispute (2025): Acted for a beneficiary in a substantial inheritance dispute involving competing claims between multiple heirs to a family estate valued at approximately AED 150 million. The matter involved extensive estate documentation and proceedings before a court-appointed tripartite expert committee. The subsequent appeal was dismissed in full, preserving the judgment previously issued in the client’s favour.
