Dr. Reyadh Al-Kabban​

About the Managing Director

Dr. Reyadh Al-Kabban, an Iraqi national, established Al-Kabban & Associates, Advocates and Legal Consultants in 1993, which has since become a name synonymous with success and is well known in the legal circuit. The success of the law firm that specializes in advising commercial companies, insurance companies, banks, government and private clients in their business, investment and other affairs inside and outside the region and its dedication towards offering unparalleled, high quality and culturally sensitive legal services while adhering to the highest standards of integrity and excellence are attributed to the driving force of this establishment.

Dr. Reyadh Al-Kabban obtained his LL.B from Basra University, Iraq (1967-1970), his LL.M (Public Law and Taxation Law) from The University of Cairo, Egypt (1972-1974). Dr. Al-Kabban obtained his Doctorate of Philosophy in Maritime Law from Glasgow University (1983-1985) and has a Diploma in Forensic Medicine (1987-1988). His thesis on “The Effect of Deviation Occurring in the Course of a Maritime Voyage on the Liability of the Carrier” is considered a great piece of literature, which is appreciated, by undergraduates and professors from all around the world.

Dr. Al-Kabban has dedicated more than 42 years of his life to the noble profession and has served as a Lawyer, Legal Consultant, Judge, Arbitrator and Jurist. He was admitted as a lawyer in the year 1971.He worked as an Advocate and Legal Consultant with the Iraqi Oil Company from 1975-1977. He studied at the Judicial Institute of Baghdad, Iraq from 1977-1979. He served as a Judge in the Court of First Instance in Basra, Iraq for 10 years from 1979-1989. He worked as an Advocate with Bujassem & Al Maliki- Advocates & Legal Consultants (Dubai) from 1989-1993. From there he went on to establish his own law firm, Al-Kabban & Associates, Advocates and Legal Consultants. Dr. Al-Kabban is also a member of Transitional Justice in Iraq and the Coordinator of Transparency and Anti-Corruption Committee in a project titled – Future of Iraq. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Private Law and the Department of Public, International and European Law, Faculty of Law and Financial Studies, Glasgow University from 1988-1992. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Maritime Law, Southampton University from 1992-1995 and at the Department of Law, School of Oriental and African Studies – University of London from 1995-2003.

As a Legal Practitioner, Dr. Al-Kabban has fought many criminal cases while representing the accused and/or the accuser. He has also represented clients in several civil cases ranging from property, compensation claims, insurance and banking while recovering huge sums of money on behalf of the clients. Dr. Al-Kabban’s strong political background along with his experience as an Advocate and Judge in Iraq has seen him successfully representing clients involved in business deals and disputes linked to Iraq.

Arbitration being a fast growing and a cost effective alternative to litigations, Dr. Al- Kabban has excelled in this versatile area of practice earning him the respect of his colleagues as a just arbitrator and aggressive litigator. He has personally handled well over one hundred arbitration cases in English and Arabic, wherein he has represented parties as a Legal Counsel or presided over cases as an Arbitrator.

Dr. Reyadh Al-Kabban is published in several reputed Law Journals, namely: The Limitation of the Maritime Carrier under the “Iraqi Transport Law” published in the Maritime Law and Commerce Journal, Vol. 19 No. 3 in July 1988. The Liability of the Maritime Carrier under the Iraqi Transport Law published in the Arab Quarterly Journal Vol. 3 Part- 1988. The Recovery of Loss, or Damage to the Goods and the Delay in Delivery in the Admiralty Cases under the Iraqi Jurisprudence published in the Arab Law Quarterly Journal in 1989.

Dr. Al-Kabban is registered with several legal institutions across the U.A.E and internationally. He is a member of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre, Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC), Ajman Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre, GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre in Bahrain, International Commercial Arbitration (ICC), and the International Bar Association (IBA).

With over 20 years of unique and substantial UAE legal experience, Advocate Saif is well renowned amongst the local legal community and has established himself as one of the most highly regarded and reputable lawyers practicing in the fields of corporate and commercial law, banking, civil, criminal, labour, insurance, shariah and rental disputes.

Advocate Saif graduated with honours from Al Ain University UAE in 1990. He is fluent in Arabic and English with professional working literacy in Hindi and Urdu.

Amina Binjafar

Advocate Amina Binjafar is a lawyer at Al Kabban & Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants specializing in Criminal and Civil law litigation at the Dubai Courts. With over ten years of experience at the Dubai Courts, Amina has established himself as an important member of the firm dealing in all cases and procedural matters at the Dubai Courts and all other related government departments, including the Police departments and the Public Prosecutors office. Advocate Amina is an experienced and ambitious lawyer who has crafted a highly deserved reputation for herself as a leading litigator in the UAE.

Advocate Amina graduated from the ​College of Law and Police Sciences at Dubai Police Academy in ​2008 and is fluent in both Arabic and English.

Mohammed Lamloum Ratieb

Mr. Mohammed Lamloum Ratieb is a Senior Legal Consultant at Al Kabban & Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants. Mohammed’s UAE experience is wide ranging with over 15 years’ experience in legal disputes involving civil and commercial law, property and real estate law, labour law and criminal law. Mohammed also plays a leading role in the firm’s Arabic Arbitration cases.

Mohammed is highly knowledgeable in all matters concerning the relevant UAE local authorities, specifically the Dubai Courts, Dubai Public Prosecution, Dubai Police and the Municipality. Mohammed has also played a key role in a variety of the firm’s legal accomplishments ranging from the winning of landmark cases to receiving court judgements that established legal precedents in the UAE.

Mohammed joined the team at Al Kabban & Associates in 2006. Prior to joining Al Kabban & Associates, Mohammed worked at another private UAE Law firm from 2002 to 2005.

Mohammed gained a Bachelor of Law degree in 2002 from Assiut University in Egypt and is fluent in the English and Arabic languages.

Shamsudeen Abdul Khareem

Mr. Shamsudeen Abdul Khareem is a Senior Legal Consultant at Al Kabban & Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants. Shamsudeen has over 20 years of substantial UAE legal experience in practicing construction and compensation law as a specialist in labour claims and civil cases.

He has acted as a key advisor for several UAE and International project sponsors and lenders in various financial and landmark projects. Shamsudeen is a popular legal consultant amongst the Indian community, particularly with the people of Kerala. He has been involved in several landmark compensation claim cases, and is frequently requested for interviews as a legal expert on various Indian radio and television networks.

Shamsudeen has been a distinguished member of the Al Kabban team since 2006, prior to which he worked as an Advocate in India for several major local and international clients.

Admitted as an Advocate in India, Shamsudeen received his LLB from Kerala University in 1992.

He is fluent in English and Malayalam and has a working knowledge of Hindi and Urdu.

Hany Atef El Ashhat

Mr. Hany Atef is a Senior Associate at Al Kabban & Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants and Head of litigation for the UAE Northern Emirates government bodies.

Hany has established a wealth of knowledge and experience in the northern Emirate Courts including the Sharjah Courts, Fujairah Courts, Ras Al Khaimah Courts, UAQ Courts, UAE Public Prosecution and all their associated Police departments. Hany has over 15 years of valuable UAE legal experience and has been key in the firm’s success across the Northern Emirates. His focus is primarily in labour law disputes and criminal law cases.

Prior to commencing with Al Kabban & Associates team, Hany worked at another private UAE law firm from 2001 to 2006.

Hany received his LLB from Alexandria University (Egypt) in 1999 and is fluent in Arabic and English.

Benoy Sasi

Mr. Benoy Sasi is a highly distinguished legal consultant in the UAE and, in particular, the Indian community. He is currently a member of the Kerala High Court Advocates Association and the India International ADR Association. Specializing in corporate law, Benoy represents several leading corporate entities and business leaders involved in the construction, health care and insurance sectors. Other areas of expertise include international cyber technology laws related to e-commerce, banking, crime and intellectual property. He is currently registered as a practitioner at the DIFC Courts (Dubai International Financial Centre) and has acted successfully as legal counsel in several English Arbitration cases since 2010 through the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). Furthermore, Benoy regularly acts as legal counselor at the Indian Workers Resource Centre (IWRC) under the Indian Embassy with his legal opinions acquired for over one thousand cases.

Benoy’s wealth in legal knowledge and experience has seen him get invited as a regular guest speaker at conferences, radio talk shows and various television networks for his legal input into a wide range of legal matters concerning India and the UAE.

Benoy has been an important member of the team at Al Kabban & Associates since 2009 and is fluent in the English, Hindi and Malayalam languages.

Sara Al Kabban

Meet our Legal Manager, Sara Al Kabban. After graduating from the University of Auckland with a double major in Law and Psychology, Sara spent a year working in a business law firm whilst studying to get admitted to the New Zealand Bar Association. After admission, she left her home and came to venture out into the Middle East market. Two years of hard work in the corporate areas of law and heavy involvement in the field of arbitration, lead to her assignment into the role of Legal Manager to head the English department at Al Kabban & Associates. Sara also has a passion for writing that has been shown recognition in the leading legal magazine in the MENA region, The Oath Legal Magazine (“The Oath”). Her first published article in the July 2017 edition of The Oath highlighted the importance of “Terms and Conditions” for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (“SME’s”), which actually came about from her admiration and appreciation of SME’s, and the desire to help them flourish in a big market. Her second co-authored article published in the January 2018 edition of The Oath, focused on arbitration and the implications of public policy in a standard arbitration setting in the UAE, branched from her current involvement in numerous arbitration cases at the firm. Further to that, she has found a new interest in taxation in the UAE, and has been approached by the Khaleej Times to answer the readers’ queries on the newly implemented Value Added Tax. Sara has proven herself to be a valuable member of the Al Kabban & Associates team since joining in 2016, and is fluent in Arabic and English.

Ankita Mukherjee

Ankita Mukherjee is a seasoned Legal Consultant at Al Kabban & Associates Advocate and Legal Consultants, bringing over 12 years of comprehensive expertise to the firm. Specializing in Arbitration, Corporate & Commercial matters, and intricate legal document drafting, including complex contractual contracts, Ankita has earned recognition for her outstanding contributions.
Her professional journey includes a noteworthy tenure at one of Big 4 consulting firms in the Corporate Advisory role before dedicating over 6 years to the legal landscape in Dubai,, United Arab Emirates. Ankita holds the designation of a registered Legal Consultant with the Rulers’ Court in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Mohamed Zaineldin Mohamed

Mr. Mohamed Zaineldin is an Associate at Al Kabban & Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants specializing in all UAE criminal law related matters. Mr. Mohamed has over twenty years’ experience in successfully handling a wide range of criminal cases including dishonored cheques, drug trafficking and possession, public indecency, public order offences, assault, murder, sexual crimes, forgery, personation, motor vehicle offences, juvenile delinquency and other misdemeanors.

Mohamed graduated with a LLB from Alexandria University – Egypt in 1995 and has been a part of the team at Al Kabban & Associates since 2015.
