Dubai International Arbitration Centre Launches “DANA by DIAC” - A Next Generation Arbitration Platform

In a major step toward the digital transformation of dispute resolution, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) has unveiled DANA by DIAC powered by Opus 2, a unified arbitration management platform set to go live in January 2026.

The new system connects parties, arbitrators, legal representatives, and DIAC’s case management team in one secure and collaborative environment, streamlining arbitration procedures, enhancing transparency, and reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global leader in technology driven justice.

A Modern Solution for a Global Arbitration Hub

Developed in partnership with Opus 2, a UK based disputes software pioneer, DANA by DIAC introduces centralised e-filing, case registration, digital documentation, and workflow automation. These features enable users to manage cases more efficiently while maintaining the confidentiality and procedural rigour for which DIAC is renowned.

According to Robert Stephen, Registrar of DIAC:

“DANA by DIAC strengthens confidence in DIAC arbitration by providing a reliable and secure environment for managing our cases. It reflects our continued focus on high standards and a client experience that is second to none.”

The platform marks a key milestone in DIAC’s ongoing mission to align with international best practices and enhance Dubai’s position as the largest arbitral institution in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

The Meaning Behind “DANA”

The name “DANA” embodies the spirit of wisdom, value, and cultural heritage:

  • In the Arabian Gulf, “Dana” refers to a rare and beautiful pearl, symbolising excellence and authenticity.
  • In Persian, “Dānā” translates to “wise”, while in Hebrew, it means “arbiter” — an apt reflection of DIAC’s purpose.

This multilingual meaning reinforces DIAC’s identity as a centre of excellence in arbitration rooted in both tradition and innovation.

Driving Efficiency and Collaboration

Jehad Kazim, Executive Director of DIAC, explained:

“Our goal has always been to offer dispute-resolution services that are efficient, transparent, and accessible. The launch of DANA by DIAC powered by Opus 2 reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence, ensuring users benefit from a seamless and collaborative arbitration experience.”

By digitising the entire case management lifecycle, DANA enables real time collaboration among parties, arbitrators, and the Centre, reducing administrative delays, simplifying procedural compliance, and ensuring consistency across DIAC administered cases.

A Strategic Partnership with Opus 2

Opus 2 brings its global experience in digital litigation and arbitration technology to support DIAC’s transformation.

Oliver McClintock, Chief Commercial Officer of Opus 2, stated:

“Our collaboration with DIAC is built on a shared vision to transform the future of arbitration. DANA by DIAC exemplifies how technology can elevate and streamline the process. We are proud to help position DIAC at the forefront of innovation in international arbitration.”

This partnership not only enhances DIAC’s operational capabilities but also aligns with Dubai’s broader digital economy agenda, reflecting the emirate’s ambition to become a leading global legal and commercial hub.
