New Law Introduces Official Dubai Emblem

Dubai, known for its forward-thinking approach, has taken a significant step towards establishing its unique identity by introducing Law No. (17) of 2023. This law, issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paves the way for the creation of an official Dubai emblem. The emblem, heralding Dubai’s values and principles, will serve as a symbol of the emirate, reflecting its rich heritage and progressive vision.

Ownership and Utilization of the Emblem

The law unequivocally states that the emblem will be the property of the Dubai government. This emblem will find its place across various government facilities, official documents, websites, and during government-hosted events. It’s a representation of Dubai’s unique character and identity, protected by this law and its accompanying regulations.

Private Entities and Usage

For private entities desiring to use the emblem, a crucial requirement is to secure prior approval from the Dubai Ruler or his authorized representative. This step ensures that the emblem is treated with the respect and reverence it deserves, maintaining its sanctity and significance.

Consequences of Misuse

The law, recognizing the emblem’s importance, imposes strict penalties for its improper use. Violations can result in substantial fines ranging from Dhs100,000 to Dhs500,000. Additionally, violators may face imprisonment for a period of no less than three months and no more than five years. These measures underscore the seriousness with which Dubai views the protection of its emblem.

Implementation and Effectiveness

To oversee the proper implementation of this law, the Chairman of Dubai’s Ruler Court will issue the necessary decisions. The law will officially come into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Dubai’s new emblem represents a significant milestone in the emirate’s journey towards preserving its unique identity. It’s a symbol of pride, unity, and progress, and this law ensures that it is treated with the respect and reverence it rightly deserves.
