Sulaiman Rameez is a common law qualified arbitration and corporate lawyer whose practice spans complex, high value disputes and transactional mandates across the Middle East and Asia. He joined Al Kabban & Associates in 2025 as part of the firm’s growing corporate and commercial practice, bringing with him extensive cross border expertise and a strong reputation for delivering practical, strategic, and globally informed legal solutions.

Professional Expertise

Mr. Rameez’s practice covers:

• Institutional arbitration under ICC, DIAC, and ADCCAC rules, representing clients in construction, energy, real estate, and joint venture disputes.
  
• Cross border corporate and transactional advisory, including tax planning, restructurings, employment law, and entity formation across DIFC, ADGM, and UAE free zones.
  
• High stakes advocacy, including representation of a subcontractor in an AED 35 million construction arbitration and a European investor in a real estate dispute, both resulting in full recovery with interest and legal costs.
  
• Policy and law reform, serving as Secretary to the Expert Panel on Arbitration Law for Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Justice, where he contributed to drafting the nation’s new Arbitration Act and liaised with UNCITRAL to ensure compliance with the Model Law framework.
  
• Thought leadership, as Founder and Convener of Colombo Arbitration Week, a leading regional ADR forum promoting professional dialogue and development across Asia and the Middle East.

Earlier in his career, Sulaiman worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), leading national foresight and innovation initiatives in partnership with the Sri Lankan government. His contribution earned him recognition as one of only nine global “Blue Room Speakers” by United Nations Volunteers and Deutsche Welle Akademie for innovation in public service.
